Once again, the Catena for this Sunday's Gospel is so brief (yet still profound) that I have added another excerpt from one of St. John Chrysostom's homilies on Second Timothy.

Cuius Gratia
This blog complemented the "Faith of Our Fathers" course I taught at the Cathedral in Anchorage, Alaska. Selections from St. Thomas's masterful Catena Aurea follow along the Sunday Gospels and those of major feastdays. Making use of Cardinal Newman's team translation, I have updated the style somewhat and polished the translation when necessary. Here, as in the course, dear to our heart is Cardinal Newman's hope that the Catena become a source of catechesis within the family and local church.
